In 2006, Drew and a few of his musical friends auditioned as The Unconventionals on the third series of The X Factor. It was Drew who decided to put an 'unconventional' group together that was different from the stereotypical boy/girl band image and sound. So The Unconventionals were born.
As well as Drew the group consists of Liz Ewing, Tom Newman, Lucy Newton, Andrew Newey, and Nicola Dawn. Nicola however decided to leave the group to return to the world of theatre so she has been replaced with Melissa Jacques.
After going all the way through to the live shows, their X Factor journey unfortunatley came to an end on the first show. They sang various different songs through out the contest including, On Top Of The World, Don't Stop Me know, Push The Button and Dancing In The Street. The X Factor journey may be over but there's a whole new journey ahead for them in the world of music.
